Dominik Alves - Photography

dominik alves was born 1980 in munich. always having been fascinated by images and especially photography, he incidentally grabbed a camera in 2002 and started to explore his visual mind. the possibility of conserving not only a scenery but also emotions on film had huge impact on his mind, and after having studied political sciences for two years already, his passion for imagery became a desire to be fulfilled every day. immediately he realised he wanted to work as photographer. he skipped studies, went to new zealand and worked at the "kingsize studios" as studio assistant for one year. there he learned about the basics of digital and analouge photography (besides he merely learned surfing).

back to germany he was assisting e.g. claudia fessler, dieter eikelpoth, wiebke bosse, michael leis and benedict redgrove. at the same time dominik rented a small atelier within an artist community in munich. this gave him the possibiity to advance his autodidactic progression. today he enjoys living in munich and ljubljana.
